Disney Vacation Club (DVC) is a vacation timeshare started in 1991 by Disney Vacation Development Inc, a subsidiary of the Walt Disney Company. It currently operates Disney-themed resorts all over the US mainland, with a new resort set to open in Hawaii by 2011.
DVC “guests” purchase a one-time real estate interest in a DVC resort and pay annual dues. Memberships have an expiration date of 50 years after the initial offering of the property.

Miscellaneous:
DVC points costs $112 per point. The minimum number of points to be a DVC member is 160, and the maximum 2000.
Unlike traditional timeshares, Club membership for most properties ends on January 31, 2042. Membership at Saratoga Springs Resort and Spa will end on January 31, 2054, membership at the Animal Kingdom Villas will end on January 31, 2057 and the new Bay Lake Tower ends in 2060. Although you are buying a “real-estate interest” and your purchase is actually deeded, your ownership ceases to exist after these dates.
Unlike many other timeshares, DVC operates on a “points” system that allows members to use their points in a flexible fashion at any of the DVC resorts as well as Disney resort hotels in California, Florida, France, Hong Kong, Japan, the Disney Cruise Line, and other (non-Disney) vacations.
Interest: When purchasing through the Disney Vacation Club, financing the cost of membership is an option. The DVC offers one, three, five, seven and 10-year plans.
Annual Dues: Annual dues are paid yearly and are based on the amount of points owned. The 2009 fees ranged from $3.67 per point at Bay Lake Tower to $6.40 per point at Vero Beach.
Exchange fee: A fee of $95 is charged when booking a vacation through the Member Getaways program, the Concierge Collection or the Disney Cruise.
